Tell me anything about this mare please

Postby Stormchaser » Sat Jan 03, 2009 4:17 pm

Her name is Stormproof and she is by Sunny's Halo and out of Storm System by Naskra. Any information would be appreciated as we know nothing about her at all. She came to us with her legs all torn up and quite underweight. She is now healed although has huge scars and is quite round and plump.

Foal of 1994, last raced July 17, 2000.

Career data: 5-6-3 out of 45 starts $39,622 earned.

Five wins as follows:

Aug. 1, 1997 at Fort Erie, Canada

June 21, 1998 at Fort Erie

Sept 20, 1998 at Fort Erie

July 5, 1999 at Fort Erie

October 12, 1999 at Fort Erie

I would lean toward purchasing winner's circle photos from any of the first three wins before getting the last two, for minor reasons.

Breeder: Forest Ridge Racing Stable

foaled in March of 1994.

Thanks for all the info. I have her here in foal to Shelter and knew nothing about her. She arrived in very bad condition, huge open wounds on her legs, scared and obviously had not had a good time.

She is now fat, happy and will come over for her loving although on her terms. Still a little shy, has bad scars but has healed up nicely. What a nice little mare who was abandoned here and hopefully has a home for life with us. She is even sticking up for herself with the other mares which at first she would just run away from them.

Just caught your post by accident and I can tell you that I knew Stormproof very well. The folks that raced her, John Kennedy and his family were very caring about their stock but I don't know what became of her after 1999. I had a lovely filly that just beat Stormproof in a photo one day at Fort Erie and if I can find the video of that race I will gladly mail it to you from here in Florida. One thing that I do know is that she ran her best races without the whip and my good filly was all-out to win against her with her jockey just coaxing her along. Bless you for giving her another chance and some respect.

That is so nice, I just love this little mare, she is a little nuerotic but quite a sweetie. Sounds like she was a real trooper, I will post pics of her and her foal when when has it. She is due around April 8th. I would love to see the video if your find it Wilf, thanks so much. Not sure where she has been but she has chunks out of her fetlocks that have healed badly, there is a horrible scar on her neck that I cannot even begin to imagine. My e-mail is [email protected]. I can tell you this mare has a home for life with us.

I came across this post by accident. I had your mares first foal Bold And Stormy, very sweet and easy to be around, who is now a stakes placed producer herself and one of Bold and Stormy's foals produced stakes winners too.

Here are links to the charts of her 45 starts. She started out with Roger Attfield, and was claimed Aug 25, 1997 by the people who owned her the rest of her racing career. You can get this info free on equibase.com by entering any horse's name in the white box down the left side. All the best with her! :)
