Adding horses - used to be the sire/dam boxes were strictly blank. Now they have a hyphen "-" in them which if not replaced with a word/name, makes you choose between "horses" called "-" and the "none of these" - which creates MORE "-" horses. This happens EVEN if you delete the "-" and leave it blank.
So far, they are all females which are "-" entries.
I hope this is just a temporary glitch with all the work that is going on now to fix things we've all known for ages already. If not, it is just stupid for automatically creating more useless entries. |

| Not sure why the hyphen's showing up, but the sire and/or dam fields should never be left empty. The '#' symbol is used to indicate an unknown. |

Actually, it's OK to leave a sire/dam field empty - in fact, it's the only way to submit a research request. If # is used, there won't be an option to research the pedigree further, and the DB will assume the pedigree is as complete as it's ever going to get.....it'll just stay 'unknown' unless someone who happens to know the pedigree stumbles across it.
No idea what the dashes mean, but it must be another new kink in the ongoing repair work. I'd hold off on adding horses with incomplete pedigrees until they get things straightened out. |

| On the other hand, I just went to look at the pedigree of a horse that includes Reverse Charge (Ire), whose pedigree is now incomplete. It used to have all of his dam information, which is missing now. What happened? |
