Well Dublino I am not sure that too many folks on this board would understand your point unless they watched the whole video, which I may add should be required viewing for all racehorse enthusiasts. A quiet thursday's racing at a jumping venue which in this case was Warwick in England and anyone who saw it were witness to a masterclass in race riding and horsemanship and fitness and experience! Thanks so much Dublino ,this was very special to me as I watched this stuff as a kid and was galvanised by riders such as Gifford ,Mellor,Biddlecombe and Fred Winter. McCoy stands right alongside them no doubt and maybe the ranks are not as deep as those days but it does not diminish his status, wonderful!

Hi Wilf.
When i first met Steve we were both working in one of the casinos in our home town, his best friend worked at Berisfords bookies,We went to visit him one day and I had a go on the horses, there was a bet called the yankee had to pick four horses.Any way being new at the game i thought i would pick them all starting with the letter T.Can you imagine the flack I got from you know who, well they all came in and T W Biddlecombe was on a couple of the mounts. That money went in my purse so fast and I legged it out of there. The next horse that won that day was called Ten Shillings, guess it was a day for the T,S just blind luck. Laughing

Thats the problem with McCoy, the perennial runner-up to his 15 Champion Jockey titles in a row is Richard Johnson, who IMHO is not fit to ride Donkeys on Brighton beach, we have nothing to measure this true great to.

A couple of years ago he fell off a horse over fences and brokes his cheek bone, the next race was over hurdles, so he came out with a band-aid on the cut on his face to hide it from the medics because he was on a horse that was fancied to win and yes he won, after the race he then went off to hospital, he missed the next two weeks out with a fractured cheekbone, what a man.

Thanks for that Dublino, I must confess that I miss the well informed comments by the pundits after the race with close examination of the horse and his performance, they certainly know what they are talking about. I wagged school one day to watch Persian War win a Champion Hurdle @ 6-4 and bet all I had on him. When the Flat Racing returned in March it all seemed an anti-climax for a while.
