Silly question I know, but we are just trying to put a value on our weanling for our partners sake. If you were in the market for a weanling, what would you pay for a colt by Alphabet Soup out of Sweet Maria. I know it is hard without seeing him, he is a tall big bodied colt, offset on his left front, toes in a bit on the left hind. Overall, a good looking boy though. Can anyone even begin to give me a ballpark range?

Thanks

That's a bit of a challenge... this mare didn't have her first foal til 9? What did the Strut the Stage go for? http://www.cthsont.com/docs/sales/yearlingsalecat_2010/201.PDF

Alphabet Soup's weanlings look like they were selling about $3000, but that's only from 2 in the sales ring last year.

Decent black type on this mare, but I'd say $3000 is what my guesstimate is.

I see the Strut the Stage filly did go for $6000, so I may have to move my price up a bit!

Three blacktype winners and a fourth winner from six foals under the second dam and more blacktype further up makes that mare worth more than what the foal went for, but if you can hold the mare and see if the family can produce more winners the value can only improve.

I'd be inclined to spend a few dollars on some reports and go back four generations and see what worked/did not work and evaluate the entire family instead. The mare is a winner AND there is blacktype in the family and I'd take that over a third generation blue blood that has a dam and grand dam that were unraced even if it were ap indy/storm cat.

5-10k (max) depending on xrays as a possible pin hook prospect. I wouldnt look for huge money as a yearling, maybe a little bit more as a 2 year old. The family runs so a good canadian market (of buyers) would be about as well placed as you could get.

Thank you, we would like to dissolve the partnership and I really had no idea what to tell the partners. My guess would have been the stud fee, which was $6000. This gives me a better idea.

It also depends on the individual standing in front of you, not solely the sales page. How is her conformation, does she have a nice build? Is she correct fore and aft? Pictures would help.
