10f distance is perfect but I dont think this guy will be counted among the front finishers...his strength is on turf. but his last November run on dirt
was an impressive 6th, only 3& 1/2 lengths behind winner Drosselmeyer in the BC Classic. It is toucher here. Only good thing is freshness (his 1st
appearance since).

March 2011 was a bad month in Japan, with a very devastating tsunami. But japs fininsed 1 2 in this race held towards the end of that month. Transcend, Japan best dirt horse of 2011, was 1/2 length behind compatriot the 2011 best older horse Victoire Pisa.

The real threat in the field could in fact come from another Japan horse, Smart Falcon. He has just won the G1 11f Kawasaki Kinen by 4 lengths
2 months ago. That race was his 9th striaight triumphs in a row since November 2010. All these wins are on dirt tracks and 5 of them, including Kawasaki, are of grade 1 status.

Glad to see Zazou, 2011 premio Roma winner, in the field of 14 likely runner. His grand father is Giant Causeway.

Dubai World Cup Field :

1 CAPPONI (IRE) UAE Mahmood Al Zarooni
2 EISHIN FLASH (JPN) Japan Hideaki Fujiwara
3 GAME ON DUDE (USA) USA Bob Baffert
4 MASTER OF HOUNDS (USA) South Africa Mike de Kock
5 MENDIP (USA) UAE Saeed bin Suroor
6 MONTEROSSO (GB) UAE Mahmood Al Zarooni
7 PLANTEUR (IRE) GB Marco Botti
8 PRINCE BISHOP (IRE) UAE Saeed bin Suroor
9 ROYAL DELTA (USA) USA William Mott
10 SILVER POND (FR) UAE Doug Watson
11 SMART FALCON (JPN) Japan Ken Kozaki
12 SO YOU THINK (NZ) Ireland Aidan O'Brien
13 TRANSCEND (JPN) Japan Takayuki Yasuda
14 ZAZOU (GER) Germany Waldemar Hickst

Game On Dude draws the wildest box of 14. Most should still remember his nail-biting front-running style in last year's BC Classic..only beaten 1.5 lengths by the somewhat surprise winner Drosselmeyer in that coveted event. Since, he only raced once, in the 9f San Antonio, and won, with 5.25 lengths to spare.

BC Ladies Classic champion Royal Delta draws 7th. Not for a genteel lady, excusez moi.

Japnese 2010 Derby winner Enshin Flash draws 2nd. Has not won since. But his 2nd in the Arima Kinen last December was too good to be
ioverlooked. Only 3/4 lengths away on the line from the country's reigning triple crowner Orfevre.

The G1 Al Maktoum R3 (10f) first and second, Capponi (draw 11) and Silver Pond (draw 9) will meet again today. Of the two, Capponi pays 14/1 and Silver Pond 25/1 currently. Capponi won the Al Maktoum by 4.

Ryan Moore is on Planteur. His chance is remote in this race I guess.

sepoy is GOOD. like, the only horse in aussie that can possibly even come close to black caviar good. he's very very very good.; rocket man won this last year. the factor on his best can run with anyone. i'm excited to see that race.

Horses break down... I've never even heard of a race 'called' and declared void because of that.

Even a race with such a big purse.

Now they're talking about making the horses repeat the race? None of it makes sense to me.

can you do that? now i have NEVER seen that before. the horses were about half way done with the race.

if they are actually able to do that i would have lost a hell of alot of respect for our need a month between runs lasix crased horses we have here.

I didn't see the actual race, just the discussion afterward, but evidently a horse broke down (don't know whether it caused a pile-up), and they declared the race voided. (Something I've never ever seen in any other race).

In a post-race interview the jock said he started to have trouble controlling his mount, then felt 'something snap.'

That's all I know at this point. The horse MAY have been Fox Hunt. They were all but blowing taps for him.

From what I have read Fox Hunt broke down before the first turn and if the horses continued on to the home stretch they would not have been able to avoid him. The outriders had no choice but to stop the race before there was a collision. I have seen it happen before but more often when the gate cannot be moved out of the way in time. They are talking about re-running the race. Unfortunately Fox Hunt was euthanized.

The Dubai Gold Cup will be rerun as the last race after the World Cup. Fox Hunt snapped a leg early on in the first running and was put down.

cityscape's jockey just put on a riding clinic.

cityscape is a classic miler, everyon thought he was going to come back to the pack, he gave the field the slip the race was over at the turn.
