This is going to sound like a monumental leap, but from an owner's point of view it reminds me of both illegal profiling and redlining.

I guess it depends on what they do with it, but if they exclude a horse's entry because of this data, they might have a problem.

Hi Ben,
You do know sound horses break down without any fraudulent ideas when being entered? It is very simple to track horses that look like they are bargain drop downs the night before. The examining vets simply need to look in the form where there are suspicious drop downs....then examine more closely using available diagnostic equipment. They don't do it because of the extra time and expense involved in doing a thorough exam...which is of course ridiculous. It doesn't take all this BS to get the job done, it's common sense! NYRA has all ready put a rule in place that hopefully will go nationwide to eliminate the practive of passing along a hot potato via the claiming ranks. If an owner/trainer claims a horse out of a race and he breaks down....the claiming sale is voided and ownership reverts to original owner. TJ

Before I got mixed up with tb,s, I was dooiing 3 day eventing. And I know how to loose, a pefectly fit, sound, horse.

But I also know that horsebuisiness can be very tricky, to say very friendly.

It is not always the claimed horse, which breakdowns, most of the times the ones that are not claimed. ( \I tend to think), but I does not hold records from that.

The source of the problem lies within the fact, that things are gooiing to be regulated, and a lot of people does not want that to happen.

Somebody else, which is sticking his nose in your buisiness.

this is precisely what needed to be done 30 years ago. the only present qualifications at most tracks to enter are two 3f breezes. horses are breaking down like crazy from trainer neglect, trainer neglect in my period in horse racing has driven virtually every single owner from the game. there is nothing about the horse side of the sport that is so detrimental as entering an under prepared horse. Happens every day at every track. This is a monumental step in the right direction for the sport, imo.
