He sure looked good while taking the measure of his field in the Haskell. Baffert always said he thought his best 3YO was Paynter, not Bodemeister. Looks like Gemologist may be finished and Dullahan should consider returning to the grass course. "New Shooter" Nonios may be prove to be yet another late developing 3YO added to this changing 3YO picture. TJ

he has always trained him like he expected a lot out of him.
he reminds me a hell of a lot of summer bird.
between BM, Paynter, Game on dude and Rail Trip, I don't think southern california has been this deep since the skip away days. they are DEEEP. Liason is a freaking after thought in california goes to the Jim Dandy and runs third in the slop _________________ "When the solution is simple, God is answering.”

Well done Belmont Stakes runner-up !!! A field of 6 is the smallest since 2001, but the 3.75 lengths margin speaks volume nonetheless.
Hope to see him in BC Classic.

Hi bdw,
They're being very quiet about Paynter's whereabouts and condition. He was supposedly sent to a clinic in NJ after he spiked the fever and was to be released tomorrow to be under the care of Tonya Terranova at Belmont. None of this is certain according to reports, but with all the training he's missed, it seems unlikely he will make the Traver's. Baffert did say he would go in the Pennsylvania Derby Sept 22nd if he doesn't make the Travers?
Looks like Johnny V will get the mount on Nonios. TJ |
