...What El Prado said.......(even though I like soccor and enjoyed seeing Team USA get a win...I kept asking the TV "where's my dressage!?!
Where the USA stands at conclusion of today's Team Dressage (there will be more tomorrow on Sunday) :
Martin of Cochranville, Pa., had 50.7 penalty points on Otis Barbotiere ;
O'Connor of The Plains, 48.2 on Mr. Medicott; and
Coudray of Ojai, Calif., 52.0 on Ringwood Magister
The German riders and horses were - as expected - very impressive in their ability to ride with precision while asking for impulsion and elasticity and all the while staying within frame....I enjoyed watching Mary King for G.B. as well.
Riding Sunday for the United States are:
Will Coleman and Phillip Dutton (6:20 a.m. ET) |

| It amazes me that they can schedule every other team sport and get it right. Put soccer on and toss the schedule up in the air. They screw it up every time. I think that's the main reason it never caught on that well in the US. TV here has never been able to get the scheduling right. They keep trying to cram a commercial in one more time. |

I would have loved to see even a vido re-run of the Japanese rider who had best individual score in Dressage but could not find it on website
And.....I *think* that Team USA went into today's Cross Country in 9th place overall after the Dressage Team scores were totaled. Hope the course wasn't made any more difficult or treacherous with all this rain but imagine that if this is a 'typical' British rain the ground's just rather 'deep' and springy as opposed to flooded, utterly sodden and slippery as grease on the approaches (as it would be if held in Houston during a downpour of our kind!).
Tried to get up early enough to actually see it on TV this morning as the schedule indicated it would be shown but instead found Slovenia vs. US volleyball going on.
Fingers crossed for a good set of runs by Team USA riders/horses and prayers that all horses and riders complete safe and sound! |

CONGRATULATIONS To:
GERMANY (Team Gold!); Great Britain (Team Silver) and New Zealand (Team Bronze) after the show jumping final phase of Team Olympic competition.
(The Swedish team performed solidly throughout the Team competitions; Zara Phillips' show jumping ride was excellent and she was as surprised as many watching when she incurred a time penalty - have to believe that here wrist timer was off in some small way?)
Excerpt from the AP -
By NICOLE WINFIELD, Associated Press
LONDON (AP) — Germany has won its second consecutive Olympic gold medal in equestrian team eventing, beating out hometown favorite Britain with Zara Phillips riding before her royal family.
Britain won the silver and New Zealand the bronze. |

My friend asked me to post a link to the article she wrote - which, I believe, has pretty much to say to this topic. Although written in Czech, I think it's easy to understand the main part, which is a list of thoroughbred sire lines and their ancestors competing in London Olympics.
Phrase "v mat. linii u" means tracing through damsire line.
Enjoy.
