Diabolical Colt (Updated Photo 4/17/14)

Postby ZiaLand » Mon Feb 03, 2014 12:14 pm

We had a nice chestnut colt out of Soulful (Lion Heart x Rich in Love by Seattle Slew) foaled yesterday 2/2/14 at 5:00 AM. I'll be back to post pics (provided I remember how). All is well with Mom and son so far but we're waiting to get past the first 48 hours before we relax.

This is our first foal born in 5 years after we left the business...then came back. We have one more due On April 1st.

Now I need to go catch up on everyone else's baby news.

Okay, I think this will work. These were taken Sunday afternoon. He was about 12 hours old. (Sorry the lighting isn't great.)

Thanks so much for your thoughts. I think a couple of you gave your opinions on this match last spring, too. :)

Hi Cheryl! Yup, our Slew granddaughter.

She's also a Tale of the Cat granddaughter so the colt is similar breeding to Cataflying who's off to a pretty good start.

As for the breed back, we're going to take a chance on Stellar Rain. He's a 3/4 brother to the late Devon Lane (Storm Cat x Stellar Jayne). He's unproven so it's a gamble I know, but I was a huge fan of Stellar Jayne in her racing days. (She's a millionaire.)

If this colt turns out as good as he looks now, we'll probably send her back to Diabolical next year.

Cute as a button, and he looks sturdy (like everyone else has commented). Hope to see more pictures as he grows!
