Re: Diabolical Colt
He looks like a little firecracker. A little attitude is good!
Re: Diabolical Colt
A photo of "Echo" at two months. He looks like he has two black eyes where his coat is starting to darken. Looks like he might end up with the same dark chestnut coat as Mom and his broodmare sire, Lion Heart.

Our first Diabolical colt has been permanently registered as Echo Eight (apparently the only one in the registry.)

Re: Diabolical Colt (Updated 7/16/16)
Cross-posted on Stable Watch:
Echo Eight had his first start at Ruidoso Downs on 7/15/16, in a futurity trial for the $175,000 Mountain Top Futurity. (We sold him last year, so are only connected to him as his breeders, but we do still own--and are not planning to sell--his yearling half-sister.)
Echo was the only first time starter in a field of six, including two stakes winners and a maiden special weight winner. The little fireball held his own, breaking first, getting first call, and matching strides with the Sunland Copper Top Futurity winner (Ignored) going into the turn and even giving a valiant effort to regain the lead after Ignored pulled in front. He remained in second place until the final furlong when he tired, and the maiden special weight winner (Toll Free) and the other stakes winner (El Tule) overtook him. He finished fourth.
All things considered (first out, stakes company, muddy track) we're really proud of his effort.

Just getting this thread caught up. Echo Eight was a wire-to-wire winner (by daylight) at Zia Park on November 1st after a challenge in the stretch by another horse sired by Diabolical, so he closed out his 2YO season a winner. This was his first run as a gelding.
The video is still available here. Click the replays, set the calendar to November 1 and select Race 1 below the calendar:

Unfortunately for us (our usual luck), the cut-off for breeders incentives was October 31st. We got a pretty nice check from the track, but we'll get our NMHBA payout next year.
