Delmar Paddock Sale?

Postby jellac » Fri Jul 18, 2014 4:05 pm

I heard it referenced on an HRTV program this AM but didn't catch the details.

Also links to an online catalog would be appreciated.

Thanks Cree - I had trouble getting to see the sale via computer, but it finally came through and then, just as the horse I was really intrigued by reached $100K in bids I lost it again....late today I see where 'Shh She's Ours' went for $140K and I can't wait to see her make her 2nd out while at Del Mar....It was tremendous fun watching her win her maiden at first asking - I thought there was something weird going on with the race calls then I realized 'Oh! That's her Name' Duh!!

I wish the new owners tons of racing luck with this filly, and with the other Del Mar purchases....looking out for them during the meet to come adds some interest for us wannabes on the sidelines :D

The horses were a lot better quality in this sale compared to last year. I looked up how those horses did coming out of last year's sale, and it wasn't great results. Most of the 2-year-olds never made starts at Del Mar. Nothing is guaranteed in racing.

Apparently Handsome Mike was led up to the ring by stable workers, only to have O'Neill come rushing in and say he had been withdrawn. That must've been a weird happening.

Just did a quick search on last year's horses that were listed as sold (didn't look at the RNA's). The horses that were the most successful after the sale:

Wildcat Party (she was sold as Renee's Wildcat). Sold for $2000. Didn't start at Del Mar, but won first out at Fairplex Sept/13 for maiden $32,000. Now racing at Arapahoe Park.

Sinfully. Sold for $50,000. Started Aug/13 at Del Mar. Was claimed for $40,000 (and won) in Oct/13.

Anillo. Bought for $75,000. Didn't race until Sept/13 at Fairplex where he won a stakes. He's in for $32,000 at Del Mar this week.

Rangi. Bought for $75,000. Raced in Sept/13 at Del Mar. Was claimed for $50,000 in Dec/13. Entered in the Wickerr S. today at Del Mar.

One More Wild Ride. Bought for $60,000, raced a few times but was claimed for $32,000 in Feb/14. Then won the Arizona Oaks. She's up at Northlands Park running for $12,500.

Side Letter. Bought for $150,000. Started Aug/13 at Del Mar. Has won 3 allowance races since her purchase.

The best deal of the sale was Charlie Thomas. Bought for $7000. He was claimed for $12,500 in Nov/13. Has earned $40,000.

Interesting to note that $510,000 purchase Oscar Party has been G2-stakes placed since the sale, but no wins. Mojave Red and Indian Winter are unraced since the sale (I have a feeling Indian Winter was a dump). Majestic Lady (went through sale as She's A Shy One) retired because of a knee injury (no wins).

Anyway, this year's sale is better. Hopefully the 2-year-olds that are "ready to start at the Del Mar meet" actually start. The best way to promote this sale is to have some good horses run and win after the sale.
