Cosmic Ocean

This is my filly by Elusive Warning, out of Media Luna. Initially planned on training myself, but after taking on a meaningful position working at a TB Farm in CA. I've decided I cannot do both, and have chosen to remain with my employer while sending the filly to be trained. She was broken in at Green Valley Training Center in Chowchilla (which I very highly recommend). Has recently moved up to breezing 1/4's. Today went with company in 24:00.
Sending her to Golden Gate this month, will be in Jonathan Wong's barn.

Here is a link to a vid of her breezing (she is on the rail)

Brought my filly home a while back after her works took a turn for the worse and trainer with no answers. After 3 months turned out, went to Emerald Downs with new trainer/partner. Works are much better on dirt (5F in 1:00.00 instead of 1:05.00) and we finally made it to a race, a mdn clm 15k going 5.5f. It was a long journey, nearly a year in training, and here we are finally.

We came 6th. Broke inward, bumping at the start. Lost a bunch of ground in the first few jumps, spent most of the race 5-6 lengths last. Set down and got back into the race around final turn, but got tired in the stretch. Trainer and jock cite inexperience, and are not very disappointed. Hard not to be a little bummed as owner, but she responded when asked, so maybe our next start we will see a little more.

Congrats on the starter! There's a lot to be said for being an owner/breeder of a horse that makes it to the starting gate. The wins are huge pluses but making it to the races is an accomplishment. I'm sure she will improve in her next start.

Thank you! Yes, it has been quite the journey raising one from birth, and getting to the starting gate finally. Working at the farm, I've watched a few dozen horses get started, some would never make it for one reason or another. Not even to a single race, and I feel lucky as the owner/breeder of a single runner to get to run. There was some perseverance involved as very little went to plan, and nearly a year of combined training was needed to get to that 1st start for multiple reasons.

Good Luck! Remember, too, that some horses just can't get racing fit in the morning; they have to race into real fitness.

Came back from that 2nd race with an entrapped epiglottis. Just had the surgury today, hope to get one more race before Emerald Downs ends and we have to ship back down to Turf Paradise.

Surgury went well, but the tissue is still a little irritated. Scoped again and its healing properly, just taking its time. Won't get one more start at Emerald, gonna have to wait until we go to Arizona. Kinda bummed, but Vet says she will be able to run and won't have this problem again.
