I was waiting to hear whether my final cover mares were pregnant. They're not.

It is understandable that Reigning Glory might need some time to reset her body after being pregnant three times this year already. Her big Authenticate girl is six months old now, and I'll try to get some pictures next week. We flushed a twin pregnancy that we couldn't separate, and she slipped her third pregnancy. So it won't bother me to save the relatively small stud fee on Ocean Terrace.

Vivid Dreams didn't take on her final cover with subfertile Saarland, as expected. However, I breathed a sigh of relief, because now I don't have to come up with the $12,500 stud fee plus KY 6% sales tax. Money is tight this year, and I would have been scrounging to come up with that kind of money with no horses currently racing.

The vet is coming over next week or sooner to make sure Shake On It is still pregnant, since she's been suspiciously interested in some geldings nearby.

Ours are ????
Pirates Widow: lost her foal last year from a cannon fracture. She is 20 years old; did not take on the first cover. I decided to just turn her out with Boomer. If she gets pregnant great (hope so!) if not she can just be a pasture buddy for him. When vet was last here a couple weeks ago he checked her and thinks he saw what looks like a 12 or 13 day fetus next to a cyst but hard to say when that early so need to recheck next week.
Miss Annihilator was not in foal and in fact came into heat the day the vet was here so she got bred again/needs to be rechecked. Her colt from last year is Equisaurus. I am afraid to stick him. At 11 mos old when he was last measured he was just shy of 15H.
Paint mare: not sure. He saw no fetus, tone was questionable but she was not forming any new follicles/has not teased back in either. Also a recheck.
Nashuas's Tune: bred to Red Whiten Blaze last week/ dunno yet.
My Kickin Cass was not going to be rebred this year. If the other 4 are in foal that is enough foals for me. So Boomer decided to bust his gate latch and get into the mare field while we were out to dinner on the 17th. In the dark caught ding dong and did a quickie once over to make sure everyone was still on 4 legs. Yup.......so locked him in the barn for the night. The next morning fixed his gate and looked at the mares better. Cassie has scratches on her withers. Nuttin' on anyone else.

Well, the good news is you can get a good early start next year! My other half took the last 3 of ours to the vet this morning for ultrasounds; I'm waiting to hear what they find (or don't find) there.

Well we got everyone we covered... I have three new mares that just came in that will stay open, plus three of my maiden mares that foaled this year... foals were big and dragged down their dams so they will stay open till Feb (also they were late May babies).

My new Spend a Buck mare took on one cover... as did most everything. I believe I have 15 in foal for next year. YAY.

Yes... but we are putting cameras in the stalls and I will get a Foal Alert. Plus I have a great barn helper now, who has been with us for six months and is planning to stay on; she will be a college freshman this year, going local and lives around the corner. She managed to miss every foaling last year and is DETERMINED to be there for at least one!

If this year taught me anything at all, it was that I needed more mares. Horse sales have been good lately (prices are up a lot).

My mare became very interested in the gelding next door when she was pregnant last year. I was concerned but she again checked in foal (and had one this spring).

Some mare's are just like that I guess.
