For those fans of black horses now there is a nice promising French graded juvenile. His name is HELIOS QUERCUS (2002). He is by Diablenev, out of Criss Cross, by Crystal Palace.

Thank you! I will add him to my stablemail.

Also, Semi Lost, Just Gabi, Three Mysteries and Black Jet are some of the blacks currently in training.

Hey Jorge, how have you been? Over on Thoroughbred Champions they have a running thread about black TB's. There seems to be quite a few enthusiasts over there.

What about Bush Won? He is listed as dark bay/brown but I seem to remember seeing a picture of him a couple years ago (I thought he was nice looking) and he looked black.

Dear Nessa,

Hi. Glad to read your comments. Ordinarily I keep an eye on horses and mares sporting black color due to their close affinity with white Thoroughbreds. A good example of this affinity are the white Thoroughbreds CLARENCE STEWART (1977) and MONT BLANC II (1963), both of which had black full brothers. These were COLLODEN POINT and DELABARRE respectively.

Its nice to see a black equine win an important race or stakes like SIX PERFECTIONS did last year in the Breeders Cup and hopes to do (tough call) this year again.
