My mare is 2 days past due today, that's a good thing cause I'm hoping for a filly. The Halo over Menow/ Tom Fool/ Buckpasser nicking pattern highly favors fillies, so keeping my fingers crossed.

Hi Jeff,
I've always heard that if they're overdue it's a colt, hope you get your filly though.
I've got one who's 2 weeks past and it's starting to make me a bit nervous, but I'm hoping for a colt so we'll see

I think that's an old wives tale because my colt arrived four days early and my filly 15 days late.... There is precedence in my mares family for carrying closer to the end of the range than the earlier part of the range which is 340-380.

So far this year, our colts (3) have averaged 343 days gestation and the fillies (8 ) 339 days gestation.

Last year our colts (16) averaged 347 days gestation and the fillies (12) 343 days.

Kind of interesting that last year and so far this year the colts averaged an extra four days in the oven than the fillies.

If colts take longer then I probably won't get a filly, one week over due today. Tomorrow is my birthday, maybe I'll get a foal for a present.
