I have a client that is insanely aggravating. I advised him not to buy a broodmare but he did. I advised him not to breed her but he did. I advised him not to breed her back after she foaled but he did. Then I sent him a bill and his check bounced. He told me he bounced six checks that day. Great. So he asked me if I could "dispose" of the horses. I told them they were not garbage to take to the landfill but that I would help rehome them for him.

The first thing I did was call the vet and abort the current foal. I have not had him out to check yet to make sure it was gone. A few days later the mare's papers arrived along with a bill of sale for both her and the colt stating I purchased them for $1. So apparently he has "disposed" of them by dumping them on me.

The mare is very nice. She has a fused ankle but has been sound on it for the year I had her. I think she could easily become a pleasure horse. Maybe even a show horse with some training. I also think she would be a great cross with a nice warmblood. She is 16.2 and solidly built.

She came back from the breeding farm very skinny. So far we haven't had any luck getting the weight back on her. I am guessing that will have to wait until she is weaned. I can get some current pics next week when I get home from California. For right now PM is the best route to contact me. I will add my phone number when I get back home. Please help me find them a good home. Use your contacts to spread the word. Needless to say someone else's mare and foal were not in my budget. Especially after the bounced check!

Mare's name is Winterlily and her colt is by Deputy Storm.

I quite like Winterlily... love the Regal Classics!

Is her foal registered? registerable? Stud fee paid?

Definitely not registered yet. I was told the stud fee was paid but do not know that for a fact. Assuming it was he would be registerable.

Surprised to hear that Northview would send home a 'skinny' mare. Also saddened to read that you had the foal aborted. Does she come with her JC papers, no strings attached so she can be bred again or is this an adoption? Would the foal be OK to travel to LA?

If she goes to LA, the hands down stud to breed her to is Tenpins.

Where does she get that substance? Those legs are tree trunks!

Her dam was exported to Ireland ... I'm betting someone else noticed all that body overseas.

I am not saying Northview did not care for her properly, just stating that she lost a lot of weight after foaling. That can happen with the best of care. She was aborted because the stud fee would have been due upon transfer to a new owner. Not to mention I felt like two horses to rehome was plenty. I didn't need to add a third to the mess. I would rather Northview go after the owner for violating the contract than go after any new owner for the unpaid stud fee. The less road blocks the better in my opinion.
She is a substantial mare all over, her legss are proportioned with the rest of her. I know that isn't always the case with bigger horses.

What a tough mare she was. 48 starts 6 wins. Three wins in a row in 08. She deserves a good home, perhaps a shot as a racing broodmare..
