There's a stud in NorCal named Peppered Cat by Tobasco Cat. This guy throws runners from nothing mares. The other day he had a first time starter 65-1 in a straight maiden and ran a good second green as grass. Any breeding based upon "paper horses", the pedigrees alone, is bound to have plenty of shortcomings. Anyone who relies on such an approach to the exclusion of other considerations--temperament!--should be prepared for disappointments and other surprises. _________________ May 2013: Plan ahead now for the Phalaris/Teddy Centennial!
