Centerofattraction, our nice maiden winner from Colonial, is stretching out to a mile and an 8th on the lawn at DE in CL25K, NW2life.
Now we do the anti-rain dance all weekend. |

| Denise when is this? What an interesting condition on the grass, the racing secretary seems like a thinking horsemans dream, we only have one turf race a day up here at Fort Erie which is a great disappointment. Lots of luck. Wilf. |

Unfortunately, the forecast isn't great, so we're keeping our fingers crossed.
Typically, racing secretaries don't like to write high level conditional claimers on the turf, even though many owners would appreciate them!
The guys at DE are terrific and put up interesting extras all the time.
There's a horse running at Ft. Erie on the 19th that I watch. And I, a 7 yo. gelding by Virgina Rapids. He's a half-brother to a horse we bought and raced, Withorwithoutyou. If you ever see him, I'd love to see a picture. It's a good, hard knocking family of winners. They have a couple of baby sisters, one of whom's a stakes winner in S. America. |

Hope to see you there, if we're still on the lawn. They took the races off there today, so if it rains more, they'll definitely keep them off tomorrow.
I'll be the one wearing an oversized Camilla hat.
We saw one that was a howl for us turfers: they actually took races off the DIRT at Colonial yesterday and put them on the grass.
How funny is that? |

Hey did anyone see Golden Man nail High Limit and get second in the Leonard Richard Stakes at DE Park? Where is Louis and why is he not proclaiming this horse's pedigree as the salvation of the Thoroughbred breed? This horse was racing off ONE DAY's rest... _________________ So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can..... |

Alas (and all too unsurprisingly), the horse in question is not entire... It really makes you see why some people are interested in Cloning when almost all the toughly bred horses are Gelded by their short sighted owners.
Quite interesting how the Sire Suave Prospect started 24 Times, the Grandsire Fortunate Prospect (not incidently a full brother to the dam of Successful Appeal) started 39 Times, the damsire Cozzene 24 Times, the 2nd damsire Big Spuce 40 Times, and the 3rd damsire Your Alibhai 52 Times.
Evidently it doesn't take an Einstein to see how you breed a horse who can finish 3rd One Day and 2nd the next! Just concentrate stallions who ran enough times that you know they were sound.

Dottie (Centerofattraction) finished a game third to two better horses on the dropdown in class, so we were thrilled. It was positively oppressive at DelPark today, over 100 degree index in heat/humidity, and she came out of it okay.
What a game, classy filly. She's still learning, and in her lone two turf tries so far, we have a first and third. Love those With Approval fillies! |

I assumed they would be off the turf because of the rain and took a four hour walk with the dogs in the morning, after which I wasn't going anywhere in that mugginess.
It looked like a good effort for third, with a closi0ng finish. She's a useful midlantic runner if she can still fire in that kind of heat and humidity! _________________ Horses Connect Us

Nobody was more surprised than we were that they were on the grass yesterday. The course was yielding, though Brisnet listed it as good.
She was very game the whole way. When the cheap speed went wing dinging out to a 15 length lead, our jock probably thought he couldn't lay her back far where she prefers to run, in the middle of the pack.
The chalk went by her in the stretch with a full head of steam, but she dug back in anyway for 3rd.
She'll get a nice long break now to recover. She's basically still learning how to be a racehorse, now that she's focused on turf. She's a very smart fillly.
I look forward to the fall in MD and NJ. |
