Color variously described as bay or brown.
Per 1830 American Turf Register & Sporting Magazine (VOL 2, #1), Gabriel's dam was a Highflyer mare (probably #18 in PedQuery) out of a SNAP MARE who was out of "CHALKSTONE'S dam", who was by SHEPHERD'S CRAB. Verify pedigree (cannot correct).
Bred by Mr. Hull, he was sent to Virginia, imported by Col. John Tayloe (Mt. Airy) in 1799. He died in 1800.
