| Known erroneously in the GSB as Kitt Darcy's Royal Mare (Kitt Darcy was the younger brother of James Darcy the younger)
There is no contemporary 18th century evidence that the Blunderbuss Royal Mare was owned by or associated with Kitt Darcy, that appellation first appearing (without evidence) in the 1891 edition of the GSB, so she should be called Blunderbuss Royal Mare. The GSB says Blunderbuss Royal Mare is dam of Milbanke's Black Mare, but pedigree certificates for Creeper given by James Darcy the younger say Milbanke's Black Mare is a half sister to Blunderbuss Royal Mare, not her daughter.
Removal of Milbanke's Black Mare (ancestress of the great racehorse and sire Highflyer) from her progeny significantly reduces Blunderbuss Royal Mare's legacy to the breed but she was the dam of Old Royal, sire of Bald Charlotte (winner of 3 King's Plates 1726-1727, 8th dam of the great American racehorse Boston, sire of Lexington); and grandam of successful sire Hartley's Blind Horse
