He was described as a horse of medium size and "true formation, possessing great strength, combined with quality".Catton sired the Derby winner Mundig, the St. Leger winner Tarrare, the good stallions Mulatto and Royal Oak , and the superb matriarch Gallopade who was sent to America and founded an enduring family of winners. Catton died at Tickhill on December 24, 1833 at 24.
