Blandford was bought as a yearling by Samuel Dawson and raced in his brother Richard Dawson's name. He was not easy to train and after his four races his racing career was cut short by tendon trouble. He retired to the Dawsons' stud near Dublin where he was an outstanding success, even though he died at the age of 16. Died in 1935.
