| Owner: Jean Courturie Breeder: William Chanler
Never raced due to badly twisted forelegs but said otherwise to be an attractive individual. According to author Peter Willett, she was slated to be put down by her breeder, William Chanler, due to her deformity, but Courterie had taken a liking to her and asked to be allowed to buy her. Chanler agreed to spare the filly and gave La Grelee to Courturie as a gift, refusing any payment. La Grelee produced ten winners and became the foundation mare of Courturie's Haras du Mesnil.
