This mare is listed in the GSB as "Layton (Violet) Barb Mare" with no parentage given. She was presumably by a horse named Layton Barb, but there is no further info to be found on him.
She is credited with five foals, but the last one (Young Violet Layton) appears to be foaled too late and is more likely a granddaughter instead.
