| Bred by Mr. Medley and imported to Virginia in 1784 by the firm of Hart & McDonald. According to turf historian William Robertson, *Medley was purchased from Richard Tattersall for the equivalent of $500. He died in 1792; shortly before his death, a half-interest in him was sold for 29,000 pounds of tobacco, then valued at about $7000.
As a racehorse, *Medley won nine races, two matches, and received forfeit for one match race, all in England.
