A half brother to several stakes winning hurdlers, it is possible that Mongo could have been a great fencer, had he been tried. When asked if Mongo could jump, trainer Frank Bonsal replied "Sure, I think he could jump, but don't tell Ray Woolfe (DuPont Scott's jump trainer) or he'll swipe him from me."
Died March 21, 1983 at Blue Ridge Farm, Virginia.
His son Brokopondo imported to England was succesful racing over fences.
