Pot8o Got his name from a stable lad who was asked to put "Potato's" name on a feed pail but misspelled. It was said to have amuse his lordship, and so it appears in the General Stud Book. Later it was shortened to Pot-8-O for general use.
A great success in the stud, he sired 172 winners.
