AARON (USA) br. G, 1876

|
| Owner: W. Craig
VERIFY PEDIGREE: 1880-1881 Krik's Guide to the Turf shows completely different pedigrees. Progeny lists and note about controversial LADIES STK have him sired by PLANEROID out of mare called LOCKETT. Per Ladies Stk info, damsire was BLACKLOCK. Racing index has him as Woodford x Porter Mare, while race history shows sire Woodford.
Color variously described as brown or bay.
Also had been printed mistakenly as "Aaron Gassatt", or "...Gassett".
Owner apparently tried to engage in fraud (below).
1879 (US): 3 1-0-1/$325
Judged to be 2yo by 2 of 3 judges, after objection for 2yo Railroad Stk (MI), which he won over 1 opponent; 3 horses scratched because of owners' belief in fraud (including LUKE BLACKBURN).
3rd/last Detroit Ladies' Stk (2yo dash), apparently unquestioned, as he was handicapped for winning RR Stk.
Ruled off of 2yo Ladies Stk (OH) because he was actually 3YO, leaving BELLE OF THE WEST in a walk-over.
