Does it hurt a sire to get a lot of sport horse foals? Does iit mess up his stats? This obviously is only an issue for those with relatively low stud fees-- usually under $2000. For instance, in my area Harry the Hat is quite popular as he gets pretty, sound, athletic, and easy to work with get who ...

He was a very good-looking and kind old boy when I saw him, and I believe was known for siring durable, handsome big sporthorses. Bred my mare to him for that, but unfortunately she slipped. Wasquite fertile as an old guy.

Private Terms

I am sure this is heresy to racefans, but we love our eventer by Private Terms out of a Horatius dam. Not an amateur ride but very scopy! If you have any with a case of the slows, please send them my way!

Thanks all. When I look at a pic of Explodent, it looks alot like this gelding. I have no pics of dam or her sire, but he may look and act like them too. The trouble with small-time pedigrees is that it is harder to find anyone who knows the horses or their relatives.

Thanks, CAMOHN. Your comments are really helpful. It was because this is a nice individual that I was scratching my head a bit and asking for pedigree input from others. I had heard that Explodents can jump, and he looks alot like him. I know nada about his damsire. I had heard of Amelia Bearheart as...

Have had a couple Cox's Ridge grandbabies OTTB to sporthorses and have really liked their minds, soundness and athleticism. The last 2 have been short in the back, tho, so maybe don't take after him? One had feet we thought would be bad but held shoes really well. The other has great feet.

Thanks, Knightsstar. He is a gelding. Somebody said that Explosive Red had hot, difficult get, and is himself quite small. That is partly why I am trying to find out more about these lines. We retrain a couple OTTBs each year.

Pedigree Gurus-- please weigh in

Explosive Revival is a 5 year old soon to be OTTB we are considering buying as a potential hunter/eventer. He is correct, tall, with good bone and feet, pretty and seems very level-headed. I am always trying to learn more about TB lines and would really appreciate input on which members of his famil...
