Magna has opted not to move forward with the new surface; per PM, the meet will start on October 4th as scheduled. They posted signs yesterday to this effect.

I hadn't heard about the commission refusing to change dates until I logged on tonight...all I can say is, wow. That'll do it. I just can't believe it happened.

Magna has told both CHRB and the press that it will be Portland Meadows that tests the new surface, as they hope it will work for Santa Anita. Now that's today. Please note time and date stamp LOL. Turns out it is most definitely Portland Meadows.

Parts coming from Germany. They do plan to try to push back. Oregon Racing Commission not involved yet.

The 2010-2011 meet at Portland has not been pushed back; it will begin Monday, October 4. I have heard no plans for a radical change to the surface.
