Betsy, Thanks for the information on the injury, but I think you missed something. I said I liked the horse and in fact am currently making a decision to either put a mare back in training or submitting her to Mingun. My point was that in my opinion he is lighter boned than the other sons of AP Indy...

I may have been a little harsh on Langfuhr. I actually bred to the horse a couple of years ago, unfortunately we had a colic and lost the pregnancy. He has been a solid to race sire, but he is still under 5% SW and 1.3%GSW with a median yealing price of $20K [I think we have a plethera of over price...

Want to say I agree with SS on St. L. He is lighter boned, but is amazingly clean for a horse that has run as he has. RHT I think is better than som give him credit and I am sure that he will have commercial looking offspring. I do not agree on Wando, I was very dissappointed in the way he moves, in...

Not living in Kentucky, How bad were his foals? 88 mares bred in 04 and 24 mares in 05. I know that in other lines on this site people have mentioned concerns about temperment. We have a Changeintheweather colt out of a Grindstone filly. A little small, but from a maiden and with some initial health...

There is great concern in this country as well to avoid the problems associated with BSE (mad cow) as well. But there are a couple of important factor to keep in mind. It really is a fairly techinical issue that I don't think can be reviewed completely in short bullets, having stated that.. let me g...

A short follow up. The reason I mentioned not using fat bellies as a criteria is that it appears that some readers of these posting appear fairly new to horse ownership and did not want them to mistake large "hay bellies" and or wormy foal vs. a mare with a growing fetus. As to fat source there is n...

As an animal nutritionist (Iowa State and University of Kentucky) I felt I had to enter this discussion. Grain byproduct can have significant nutritional value. Many are the result of processing that has removed the carbohydrate portion for flour, fructose, fermentation etc. The remain portions may ...

We have had a same experience with a filly. Good in the morning, nothing in the afternoon. After 3 terrible trips we brought her home. Her coat was not as "bright" as I thought it should be and the filly seemed a little light. We got her home and she just picked at her grain. After 2 days of this......
