gold digger

Does anybody know the longest distance that Gold Digger won at. Gold Digger was Mr. Prospector's dam who was a champion sprinter.

Re: Buckpasser versus Mr. Prospector

How much evidence do you need? Here is some more overwhelming evidence that Buckpasser in the X provides stamina and Mr. Prospector in the X path does not provide stamina. Belmont Stakes Winners and Place Finishers regarding Mr. Prospector and Buckpasser in X passing positions over the last 30 years...

Buckpasser versus Mr. Prospector

In reference to appearances in the X passion position of Kentucky Derby winners over the last 30 years I compiled data for Buckpasser and Mr. Prospector. Here are my results: Buckpasser in the X passing position of Ky Derby winners 1987-2016 7 Derby winners 11 Derby place finishers Total 18 appearan...

native dancer big bet that lost

To all: Does anybody here have any information about a guy named Thomas Salerno who lost a 17 thousand dollar win bet on Native Dancer to win the Ky Derby of 1953. The story I was told is----he sold his house and wagered all that cash on the Dancer to win the roses. Then had a stroke a few days late...

Re: X-Factor - Large Heart

Brogers: Sir Gallahad led the broodmare sire list in North America 12 times but according to you his X chromosome had little to do with that success. How about the fundamental pattern of heredity whereby a broodmare sire transmits his X chromosome (almost entirely intact) to all his daughters and no...

Re: X-Factor - Large Heart

Brogers stated: "therefore the variance in offsprings performance revolves more around the quality of the mare, not the sire." I agree with the above statement but what about a mare's X chromosome as an important contributor to that performance? A son receives more nuclear DNA from his dam...

Re: X-Factor - Large Heart

Brogers In a study called the Potential Role of Maternal Lineage in Breeders Strategy there is evidence that the dam is more influential than the sire in generating elite runners. They hypothesize that mt DNA may cause this difference. Although mt DNA plays a role in the above success in generating ...

% more DNA provided by a mare

Does anyone know how much more DNA a mare transmits to her foal than does a sire? (mt-DNA is only transmitted by a dam)

What would be the basic criteria for a mare to be an outstanding producer with great influence on the breed?

Re: The 140th Running of The GR I Preakness Stakes

When was the last time Materiality raced? Wasn't it the Fla Derby in March. He has had over 60 days rest since his last race and will go into the Belmont at 1 1/2 miles without racing in two months. Do horses ever win the Belmont off such a layoff?

Re: 10 seconds flat for 1/8 of a mile

Also, how many potential champions with pedigrees with a reasonable degree of stamina were ruined because they were trained to show a lot of speed early on in their development. All they knew were their trainers wanted them to run fast early on so they were never given a chance to show what they had...

Re: Interesting Kentucky Derby Pedigree Angles

Patuxet: You said, "Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results." If that is true then how do you account for the following: In the last 42 years 29 Derby winners ran a final 3/8 of a mile in 37 4/5 or less or a final furlong in 12 4/5 or less in a big 5 prep race. This ...
