Re: Thoroughbreds related to Akhal-Tekes?
I remember when the Arabian horse associations were going to make DNA typing of all Arabs required. The biggest hue and cry came from Europe and the middle east because of course you only have to look at their racing "Arabs" to see they are at LEAST half TB. I think they made it a rule any...

Re: Thoroughbreds related to Akhal-Tekes?
There was an article on DNA testing/research of the TB breed back when the TB Times or Record (forget which version now) was a large sort of like newspaper magazine hybrid. It was before these articles but it said the same thing. There was no appreciable Arabian blood and the oriental blood was most...

Re: Here's another unusual coloration
She has what is called a Galastra Plume which is a grey tail on (normally) bay. Pretty unusual to see it in the mane also. It could be related to her sabino-esque markings, some of those dilutions also cause grayish dilution of the black points and not always equally. It is common in the bay sabino ...

Re: Black color
You have to get him dna tested (UC DAVIS) for Agouti and Extension to show he is black before they will register him as such. https://www.vgl.ucdavis.edu/services/horse/agouti.php Since the horse looks black you know he is E_, you only need to prove he is aa at Agouti. aaE_ would be a black horse. B...

Was Dubai Excellence ever located?
Does anyone know if there was any conclusion to the Dubai Excellence Samood mix up? What happened to Samood? Did they ever locate Duabi Excellence (sent to Ukraine)? Is there any hint he was used for breeding? If so I am guessing they would not be eligible in world wide events since he would be in e...

Re: Black color
Yes it used to be very difficult, you had to submit a vet report, photos from 100 angles and probably your first born to get it changed (as they very rarely registered anything as black, it was automatically dbbr. Then you had to PROVE it was black (see above!). Now though you can get a color test d...

Wow, the dam is obviously the source, her foals are amazing! I wish all of them had pictures. I wish SHE had a picture!! Now I wonder was she a new mutation (def. looks like a white spotted pattern) or was HER dam the source.
