This thread wore me out. Louis, we are to seriously inbred in the US now. Madelyn is right, you have to inbreed and outcross. I haven't bred a straight-legged horse in 6 years.

Don't fool yourself, when there are millions to be made, hay, oats and water don't make it. It's not what you know, it's what you don't know.

drugs, mares, and Electrocutionist

I bought a mare off the track and she had so much Equipoise (Testosterone) in her I had to let het chill out for a year. She wasn't even cycling. After a year of hay, oats and water, she was ok.

Electrocutionist was a very good horse. I saw him run a few times on the internet and he was grand.

I've seen him Bill and he was nice looking, a bit rangy. I always thought he was a nice horse and got a case of seconditis, but he had one big run towards the end. He's got a lot to like in his pedigree, not overly inbred, the dam was a bit to Raise a Native, but a foal would be down to a 5x5 on the...

I think some people fail to see the role vets play in this situation. Most vets come loaded with their own medication and it's rare you escape without something of that sort. In humans, we go to the doctor and get a perscription, we can go wherever we want. But a vet will come anf give a shot and ch...

I agree with Louis. Depending on budget, you can sometimes get a young mare with a producing female family, most notably a producing dam and a producing sister. Examine the pedigree and think "Who could I breed this mare to?". Do research, and most of all insist on a good looking mare. If you are go...

The whole East Coast is a mess on home signals. I can go to the OTB in PA and see NY, but not at home. I can bet it from home, but not see it on The Racing Channel. I get Laurel and all Magna tracks, however. We can't get HRTV here, but I don't think they get NY. TVGames is only satellite here and y...

Olerud was named after Jan Olerud, the baseball player. I forget who named him and owned him. I was not aware he made it to stud.

I'll be there all sales week over on Lake Avenue. I'll be over at the sales at night and on Tuesday day. I'll be at the 1/16th pole apron at the track and probably end up at the Parting Glass most nights. Some things never change. It's what we do.

i was hoping to get a credit in this book for the Manny Ycaza thing, but it looks like a No Go. Oh well, I'll live, even though I love the bright lights of fleeting fame. I, personally, can't wait to read this. I've been waiting for this book and I bet it's as good or better than your others.
