The Saga continues...

I for one will be interested to see what Mr. Minor has to say in the Talking Horses.

Mr. Brunetti could have been the hero or the villian here, looks like he chose villian.

I agree with Toccet. I'm not skilled at conformation, but I study. A lot. When I compare her picture with ones of yearlings that are praised for having good conformation you can see a big difference. There is something I just don't like about her back end. I'm not thrilled with her shoulder either. ...

Any speculations as to what constitutes a select pedigree and conformation? With first year stallions and unraced broodmares it's not simply a matter of proven production. There is obviously more black type on the catalog page of something in the first book as opposed to the last book, but what dist...

selection process

Does anyone know what are the criteria for getting into a select session at Keeneland? Is there a physical inspection done?

Re: arazi

you probably mean just for racing, but as far as complete flops though, hasnt Arazi turned into a sortof decent sire? Funny you should bring up Arazi. This was just printed in the Thoroughbred Daily News, September 2, 2008, in the section Pedigree Insights by Andrew Caufield: (regarding Congaree) H...

I don't know of any already made, but there are plenty of internet sights that will allow you to make your own. For a fee of course.

That is a great idea! Like if the great track had movie-type posters promoting their upcoming season. You could have that great shot of Churchill Downs with the twin spires and the horses thundering around the corner. And one of Keeneland with the horses under the trees getting saddled. And one of b...

Perhaps Mr. Minor has had ideas for Pimlico all along since, as you point out, he bought that horse farm near there. Hialeah is in more immediate need of saving, but I agree, Pimlico needs a champion too.

The Halsey Minor (Major) Saga

First off let me give a big 'Thank You' to Ray Paulick for giving the thoroughbred industry a different voice. He offten comments on industry subjects not covered (or covered well) in the main mags. Ever since I frist caught wind of Mr. Minor's interest in Hialeah I have been reading everything I ca...

I watched this race on the 'net, and if you're a Visionaire fan (as I am) then that race was all kinds of fun! Like the Gotham, I keep replaying the race for my co-workers whom I subject to horseracing like they subject me to golf! I've always loved the deep closers, kind of surprising to see ...

Battle Cat

While scanning through the weekend's stakes races I took note of this: GOLD STRIKE MILE S., Assiniboia Downs, 3 yo, Open, 1 mile 1. Spying Eyes, dkb.g. 3, by BATTLE CAT -- Bashful Dancer, by Bashful Cloud 2. Custody Battle, b.g. 3, by BATTLE CAT -- Belle's Secret, by Secret Odds 3. Pulledmeout, ch.g...

Equestrian Long Jump

The last time the Equestrian Long Jump was an Olympic competition was in 1900. The horse that won the gold jumped 6.1 meters. Does anyone know if that is the record, or what the record is?
