His breeding season has ended because he is headed back to the track. I do appreciate the responses. I respect everyone elses opinions. I guess I grew up in a different era, where horses proved themselves, not by their parentage, but by their achievements. This stallion is owned by my cousin, and st...

Look at original post..then look at my formula
The original poster did put the mares name up. I looked the mare up, saw the black in her maternal lineup and came to the conclusion she is worth at least $10,000. I also looked up the stallions and their maternal lineup. It depends on which market you are attempting to sell her at. The more recent ...

How is the mare bred though?
You only said she was in foal to Freud. What is her maternal history like? What is her registered name. Just because she is a TB doesn't mean she is worth $10,000. Is she a money earner? Broken her maiden? What class is her dam?
These are things to consider when appraising a horse.

just my opinion
I would figure the stud fee's then double those, then add another $10,000 for her. What ever that comes up to should be your price. Once a foal hits the ground it is worth double the stud fee according to insurance appraising.

Who is the dealer?
I used to live down by Camden, OH and I know a few folks down there. It isnt Amos Gilbert by chance or Steve Smith? If Amos says the horse is sound and in good shape, she is, he should know, he is a farrier. If it isn't either one of those guys stay away from her, she is probably junk! I don't know ...
