While looking for stallions for sale, I ran across this horse. He is a nice looking guy but didn't produce much. Does anyone know the story on him? He is in Texas right now, has he always been there? Seems like he should have produced something along the way but apparently did not.

Prayers for Lilo

So Sorry that you lost the filly. I can relate to what a crappy year 2005 has been. We have raised horses for 40 years. Have lost only two in that time. Since December of 2004 we had to euthanize a Gumboy weanling filly out of our Groovy mare, due to a freak choke condition, euthanized Silequa who h...

Stallions Going Through Keenland Nov.

What's The Scoop on These Stallions? We are looking for one for our NW regional market. Thought an older one who isn't getting as many mares as he used to but was still fertile would fit the bill. He certainly would have a good home with us. Kathie

Looking For A Stallion

As all of you know, Basket Weave is getting on in years. At this time, he looks like he is 12 years old instead of 24. If all goes well, he will have another successful year getting mares in foal at age 25. However, you never know. For that reason, we are looking for another stallion to have as a ba...

Thanks for the support everyone. I am going to sit down in the next week and put down all the things I can remember that we did. There are a few things I wish now I would have thought of to do sooner. It might have helped him. When a person is under so much emothional strain, your brain doesn't func...

He lost the battle this morning at 6:00 a.m. PDT. His mother bumped him and he fell down and whatever injuries he had apparently were made worse and he passed away. He joins his sister Bubbles who we lost to choke last December. It has been a tough time for him and for us and all who worked so hard ...

That would be the first thing on the list if it were me. Give them a chance to interact and let the hormones start flowing. EO

Stallions on oral testosterone supplementation

Letting stallions act like stallions is the key. Basket Weave came to live with us because he wasn't getting half his mares in foal. He needed to scale back. Now, he gets turned out all day and he runs around smelling everything, and "marking" different spots and he is happy as a clam. He was stalle...

Looking For A Breeding Stallion Down The Road

As you all know, we have been blessed with Basket Weave who is doing a great job. However, the time will come when he will have to retire and live out his days in grass to his knees. We had gotten a wonderful stallion, Really Golden who we planned to have in the future, breeding some of our mares to...

choking on hay?

Roxie, been there, done that with an 8 mo. old filly last December. She choked 3 times, the last one we put her down. Cost over $4,000. Still making payments on it. You did the right thing. There was damage to our filly's esophagus. So sorry. In the future, if there is a 2nd time, we will euthanize....

Best kind of grass to grow?

If you want something that will withstand anything, cold, heat or drought, Fuego is the way to go. It was perfected in Canada and we planted it a few years ago and it is something. However, you might have to cut it for hay if it gets ahead of you. It works great. EO

So sorry for your loss. It wasn't that long ago we lost Bubbles and she was only 8 months old. She had touched a lot of people already so I know what you are going through. Maybe he can teach her the ropes in heaven wherever the horses are.
