It must be frustrating to have your mare turned down, but I can appreciate from Ramsey's point of view that they want to fill his book with the best mares for him that they can to give him the best chance to continue to have success. It sounds like they didn't say the mare was not good, just that in...

Those lines are simply unproven as race horses. So I doubt anyone is going to gamble $80,000 on a stud fee to breed a mare who is either not proven she can run OR does not come from pedigree that has produced runners. Someone would have to have a lot of money and simply do it because it would be fu...

I never vaccinated my horses for botulism, because I was not in a very high risk area, until I saw a horse that was treated for it. The $25 vaccination was well worth it after seenig the thousands of dollars it took to treat a very sick horse, I realized it was not worth the risk. Very painful to wa...

Saw her race today at Turfway. Was hoping to see one of these uniquely colored horsesn run a bit, but she beat only one in a Maiden Claimer for a $5,000 tag.
She started out looking ok, but seemed to hit a wall even though it was slow fractions up front.
Maybe she bled or had some other issue?

It's not mandatory to race your own. Of course not. But, traditional commercial breeders are breeding to known quantities when it comes to race potential. It seems like color breeders are facing even more of an uphill battle to get their stock to the track when there is little in the pedigree to su...

the E & W are both types of encepahlitis...
so your 4-way is: flu, eastern & western encephalitis, and tetanus.
your 5-way is the same thing plus rhino.

Well I actually heard an intriguing possibility this evening. Steroids (well drugs in general) still being used to fluff up these yearlings but cutting them off the closer a sale comes. This could be mad speculation but in a way it did make sense to me. You still would probably end up with a yearli...

I don't know anything about this, but I am searching for a recipe that I learned from someone on the track too. For a solution they called "Pain Away". It was used on everything - under bandages, to draw out from wounds... It was sort of a clearish light yellow color witha sweet sort of odor. If any...
