I heard Korea and the source was very reliable.

re-run came up with the idea of printing labels to stick on registration papers that read (paraphrase) 'if this horse is ever in need of a home, please contact .............................'. this is such an easy fix that could save a life. anyone can customize and print their own. Will the JC allo...

I agree..she'll probably do just fine, it's me that'll need the nerve pill  I had to deworm her today, and she absolutely hates that and will fight me tooth and nail over it, so I had to come up with a solution that'd work for me doing it alone. Hubby was in bed sick and I was just tired of the...

Yearling's At the Sales-behavior

I've posted before about this being my first yearling sale at Keenland and in the Tbs ( done the qhorses) and I have a question. I know it's 6 months away, but I"m already thinking about what's her reaction going to be when she comes off the farm, where all she's been around is her mom, and old hors...

While it doesn't suprise me it still upsets me...Even a little peon like me doesn't trust the "power's that be" in this bussiness. When I'm around them and they smile that smile I feel like I should carry a fire extenguisher around my waist at all times to douse the smoke that's being blown up my a$...

I don't know what you mean by the catalogue fee. I believe you pay $500 to nominate a horse to the sale. The second $500 is due sometime later (perhaps when the book is printed?) Anyway it's not a separate fee. The best way to get the right information would be to call Keeneland. They're very nice ...

sam, maybe you should consider leasing a mare? That's what I plan on doing when I'm finally in position to do so. I've a couple casual racing fan friends that have made noises about going in on a horse together ... I refuse to do that. Money and friendships don't mix well in my experience. I agree....

I think it's $1,000 to enter the sale, payable in 2 installments of $500 each. Then Keeneland charges a 4.5% commission on the sale--with the 1K included in that. Which was what Madelyn was talking about when she said they don't charge a commission below 22K--you've already paid it through your ent...

Are both fees payable up front, or is one or the other taken out of the sale price of the horse? And are both due together or do you send the catalog fee in by another deadline?

They have my money, and the funds cleared out early last week. I'll try pulling her up by the names I chose. I tried with the dam's name and foaling year but nothing yet.
