Just a random somatic mutation. Happens a lot, but usually in smaller areas. This one just happens to be unusually large.

Its really not that uncommon for horses to start graying late. It happens. And 2.5 years old isn't late at all to start graying.

Im not saying she is or isn't, but its really not impossible for her to be graying.

The gray was either chestnut based himself or Ee. The bay was also Ee. Thus either a 25 or 50% chance of chestnut, depending on the grays base color.

My beautiful filly has been DNA'd for red/black factor, frame overo, and agouti. You may want to go pick someone else's ad apart whoever you are riddle. Pick someone elses ad apart? I was just incredibly curious who was doing a rabicano test. There was no picking it apart. And whoever I am? I'm the...

They may not BE black but they certainly can look black These are both chestnuts http://morgancolors.com/cbmfruby.jpg http://morgancolors.com/merwinsallabreeze.jpg So what color is a horse with a mixture of black...

The question is what exactly are they finding? LP is roaning, not spots You can't have spots without LP. so what are they looking for/at and finding in the samples? And if they have found a spotting gene, do the folks over at the Appaloosa Project know? They are using LP. Its already found and bein...

Tapit, Hansens sire produces a LOT of fast going grays. Its very normal for his line. We talked about this in another gray thread.

Well, if LP is the appy roan, then how come they are looking for spots? And claiming to find spots? Because there wouldn't be spots with LP. LP and PATN are like E and A. You can have PATN (A) without LP(E), but you won't have spots(bay). Or you can have PATN (A) with LP(E),and you get spots (Bay)....
