Re: Famous Racehorses in the 20th Century
Avalyn, I did my undergrad studies on the American Federal Executive (with lots of focus on Eisenhower's guiding America into post-war prominence) ... and afterwards spent several years doing Thoroughbred racing research (including writing a couple of articles about Baeza's greatest mounts) ... and ...

Re: How to find out what a TB you bred and sold was named?
I believe there needs to be a "trigger" for a Thoroughbred to be entered into the Equibase database. Selling at auction, posting an official work time, or entry in a race are some triggers. I'm sure there are others. A more direct way to access the full registration information of The Jock...

Fate of the Himyar line (now that INCLUDE has been pensioned)
With INCLUDE pensioned this year (https://www.airdriestud.com/horses/include.html), it would seem the Domino sire line in the U.S. is perhaps finally truly perished. And Himyar's other extant line, through Plaudit, is increasingly perilous as we get farther removed from Holy Bull's passing. At least...

Re: Sky Kingdom is off to Ohio!
Always liked Sky Kingdom Good looking, honest record, sire line that's underrepresented in Kentucky, and one of the best immediate female families. But clearly he wasn't what breeders were looking for. It was painful to see some of the stallion season auctions this year with two or three Sky Kingdom...

Re: NG season to Bal a Bali available
Interesting viewpoint. Calumet sold 7 Bal a Bali foals from his first crop at Keeneland September 2020... or 6.3 percent of his 112 live foals that year. "Flood" seems a bit of an overstatement. A total of 21 percent of his foals were offered at the event, far less than the 50 percent or 6...

NG season to Bal a Bali available
We ended up with a Bal a Bali season that we will be unable to use this year. If you are interested, please contact me. Price is 25% of his advertised fee. As a reminder: "The Brazilian Wonderhorse" was a group winner at 2 and Brazilian Triple Crown winner at 3. He was a U.S. grade I miler...

Re: Mr. Greeley as a Broodmare Sire?
Another good source of basic sire info is the BloodHorse sire list archive . You can select from more than a dozen different sire lists (including broodmare sires)... using North American data or international... by year... and even drilling down to state/regional data. You can then click on column ...

Too many seasons (so one's for sale)
I ended up winning too many stallion seasons in this year's auctions. If anyone's interested in MUCHO MACHO MAN or ACCELERATE or BIG BLUE KITTEN , maybe we can make a deal. These are all no-guarantee 2020 seasons. Please PM with interest or email <maresrest> at gmail, I will not share reduced prices...

What's YOUR secret stallion selection criteria?
In addition to a good conformation complement to your mare and appropriate matches for pedigree/aptitude/class, who has other specific unique-to-you criteria for selecting stallions for their mares? I'm thinking factors that go beyond choosing a stallion for an individual mare, but instead more univ...

Re: The Science of Pedigree Analysis
You're using fighting words for those who use Lowe family numbers as part of research/analysis/breeding decisions! Good stuff as always, Byron. Is there a publicly available resource for determining Y-chromosome and mtDNA haplotypes across the population (e.g., for stallions and mares since WWII or ...
