Katilan 1917 Preakness Stakes winner

Kalitan b. c. 1914 Rey Hindoo - Dally by Giganteum I was reading about old Preakness winners, never heard of Kalitan so I looked at the database and saw the pedigree is all screwed up. It showed the sire Rey Hindoo is correct but then showed the dam was a 2005 filly with no other pedigree info. I di...

Wrong horse in Outwork's photo

The photo accompanying Outwork's Pedigree Query page actually is Trojan Nation who ran second a head behind Outwork in the 2016 Wood Memorial.
Outwork wears the blue and orange silks of the Repole Stable, the same colors of the New York Mets and the New York Islanders.

Carrie Parcell

In researching the Queen's Birthday's demise of the King Fergus line, I found this dead-end entire colt English Manners who ran from 2-10 ages and was never bred. http://www.pedigreequery.com/english+manners English Manner's dam, Carrie Parcell (DOB 1917) lacks pedigree. However, these pages of the ...

The breed is declining

The basic program is Stockwell over Touchstone, reversed the next generation, then S over T again, then Matchem, then King Fergus, T over S, S over T, then Herod, then John O'Gaunt, T over S, etc.
Eclipse for speed. Matchem for mastery. Herod for bone.

Was Orlando's Eclipse perlino?

Eclipse (1855) is listed on Pedigreequery as bay but allbreedpedigree.com lists Eclipse as "perl."

A San Souci line sire and a Wild Dayrell sire

I was researching how many Touchstone sires are still around. I knew Grey Dawn's line that is almost extinct except Acatenango; the Hyperion line that is faded and the Plaudit line that has the Holy Bull branch and only Include from the Broad Brush branch. But I discovered that there is at least one...

Bad feet

Steroids, inbreeding, etc. These seem to be tangents about Big Brown's stud value. The colt had terrible hooves, compromised his career from start to finish. He lost the Belmont because a nail came loose in his hind right hoof. Blood-Horse had the pictures to prove it. If you think bad hooves are in...
