Re: Empty victory ?

I totally don't. I think in order for the horse to be a "great" champion, if you will, they win regardless. They win despite the gruelling contest. They win over freshened horses. Look how many other horses have been close and not won the Triple Crown: Spectacular Bid, Pleasant Colony, Al...

Re: Looking for large TB

Contact breeding farms near you & let them know what you want - often trainers/owners contact them when a horse that foaled there is done racing.

Re: The White Fox progeny

camohn, did you look at the other white "The White Fox" son at Xanthus? He is out of a stakes-placed mare. He is completely different in conformation & also a nice horse - would complement different mares than Banachek will.

Family numbers

Whoever made the decision to add the mare family numbers to Pedigree Query, thank you.

I don't know when they showed up or whether anyone discussed it (I'm not here as much as before, so I may have missed an entire discussion), but I really like seeing them right on the pedigree.

Thanks.

Hi Jessi - for what it is worth, I saw this ad today:

http://harrisburg.craigslist.org/grd/4055135785.html

I do not know if it is still available, but if so, it is in my hometown (but I won't be coming to the Pittsburgh area until later this month . . . )

If Madelyn's transporter does not work out, you can try calling local breeding farms to see who they use. Some do their own transport, some use local haulers.

It is possible one might have a trip coming out of Kentucky to somewhere in the mid-Atlantic, with room for one more passenger.

Is the stud farm in PA or KY or elsewhere?

I had a similar experience in PA with 1 mare. PM the name of the stud farm, if you want to compare notes.

Per Equibase, she had 9 starts, 4-1-1 and earned $77,180. None of those 9 starts was a stakes, so her owner is maybe remembering a different mare's race record? She had an allowance win and an AOC win. In 2007 she had an unnamed filly by Private Interview, and in 2010 an unraced filly named Super In...

It is more common than you would think - we've had it happen on 2 occasions - different stalls, different stall manufacturers, once with a TB colt & the other with a QH mare & an inspection of the stalls didn't show where/how it happened.

Just mentioning the Silver Skip mare's dam is a 1/2 sister to a HOY (Favorite Trick) in case that helps . . .

If I wasn't downsizing on the racehorse side, I wouldn't have mentioned . . . but I would have PM'd GoForRags.
