Two of the horses on my picks list (posted earlier) went for ridiculously low prices (unless they had legs on backwards, of course): #600 and #618. Did anyone see either of these fillies? I wonder if their confirmation was really that bad. Yes, I did. And no, it wasn't. All I can say is that neithe...

Pure Prize?

Has anyone seen Pure Prize and have conformation notes on him that they could pass along? Alternatively, has anyone seen enough of his offspring to detect a pattern? Please e-mail me privately if you don't feel comfortable posting publicly.

Thanks,
Heather

My Keeneland January picks

All - Here are my Keeneland January picks. I was thinking about buying at the sale, but in the end, bought a filly privately. I'd hate to see several hours work go to waste, so here you go. I only looked at fillies and very young mares. I selected these individuals based on pedigree analysis only (I...

What I don't get about the story is how could they not notice she was pregnant? That's like not noticing an elephant.

I just bought a chestnut filly with a flaxen mane and tail. She is now named Zimriyah.

She's by Pure Prize out of Song by Unbridled's Song and is inbred to Storm Cat. Does anyone know if the flaxen and mane and tail come from a recessive gene? Maybe she got it from the Storm Cat inbreeding...

Unbridled's Song question

I've seen references to soundness concerns with the offspring of Unbridled's Song. What are the specific issues that are the source of these concerns? If you don't feel comfortable posting your response to a public forum, please feel free to e-mail me privately. I've just bought a weanling filly out...

Just remember Kingmambo. After Kingmambo's first crop raced, people said you couldn't give his babies away they raced so badly at 2. How time have changed. Since then he has become a leading sire and one of the most expensive stallions in the world. Lesson: At least give a guy a couple of crops to p...

Very high quality broodmares and broodmare sires have often been back at the knees. Buckpasser was slightly back at the knees, but was one of the greatest broodmare sires of all time. He passed this trait on to many of his great daughters. Today, you see the flaw in many of the X-chromosome line dec...

Board horse wins graded stakes

Thought you all might get a kick out of this: my horse, Shadowless, won the Kennedy Road Stakes (G3, 6f) on Saturday. He was unplaced in the Queen's Plate, but it turns out he's a first rate sprinter!
