Fall at Turf Paradise 11/28, status of Shezafirestarter?
On the 8th race at Turf Paradise on Sunday, Shezafirestarter jumped the rail and seemed to take an awful fall in the first few seconds of the race. I have scoured the 'net, and can't seem to find any sort of news on the condition of the horse, whether or not she made it or not. Does anyone know? I o...

So glad to hear that things are looking up, and that you're getting help. Those tendon infections are tough, but fixable. That's great that your vet operated, and (hopefully) scooped out a lot of the infected tissue- it's those adhesions and fibrin that get in there and keep all the infection in. So...

Vitamin E deficiencies can present like wobblers. A blood test to check Vitamin E levels can be sent off to see if htat is the case. If so, Vitamin E 8000 IU daily will normally correct the problem. However, if it comes back negative, or even if not, Wobblers is still a definate possibility as it ca...

Bring him home? Tatoo Lookup Please!
Thinking about bringing this boy home, supposed rescue from Hollywood Park, now at a slightly questionable "rescue" facilty in So. Cal... and before I make a decision and investment, would really like to find out a little more history. Can anyone PLEASE look up this tatoo and get back to me, with at...

It doesn't seem unreasonable that in this era, Jockey Club could somehow get a system in place for special dispensation for certain circumstances for AI to be allowed. Barbaro is a special, high profile case, and I suspect if JC is ever going to change their rules anytime soon, it would be for him. ...

Looking for "Heckofarun" "Huckofarush" (
Looking for pedigree on a sorrel TB filly, named "Heck of a Run" or "Heck of a Rush" (I've tried it spaced out all sorts of ways on Pedigreequery, and haven't found a thing yet.) Anyone know?

Wow, tough situation. Sounds like it depends on what you plan on doing. If you intend to open some sort of wrongful death or think there was some sort of foul play or mistreatment involved in the animals death, then I think you will probably have to secure a laywer to suponea all the medical records...

IMO, sounds like there could have been a episode of DIC (http://www.addl.purdue.edu/newsletters/2005/Winter/DIC.htm), possibly secondary to a primary onset acute colic episode. Did the necropsy report say anything about a colon torsion, or rupture? Hemo-abdomen, or other obvious sepsis? An acute col...

Rehabbing a fractured pelvis
Welcome to my litany of woe ;-) Long story short, I recently brought home a 2 year old TB filly who fractured her pelvis in June training to race. She spent a month in the hospital immediatley after the injury being treated for complete cauda equina (she couldn't pass feces or urinate on her due to ...

How is it going? I'm sorry to hear about the dropping HCT. What was the foal originally sick with when born? Have you guys done any blood cultures, or clotting factor tests (PT, PTT etc?). Is the foal turned out? Or stall rested (probably best). What's his diet? Appetite? For your and the foals sake...
