Lucy, are you absolutely sure it was that Rock Sand son who was standing at UC Davis? Have you read or heard something like "Gunrock, son of Rock Sand"? I'd love to know it for sure. I searched websites of UC Davis, and there are tons of articles mentioning Gunrock - everywhere as "son of Man o'War"...

Personally, I'm not infirming Bernardini's talent, his potential, abbilities or anything else; it's hard to do so after his performances. And despite I'm a great fan of Lava Man, I always considered Bernardini to be fantastic-looking horse with a lot of talent. But when thinking of how many great ho...

Some info from Czech Republic (which means that these sires really aren't going to save this line): BAM II; Montcontour - Berta, Effekt. Russian-bred. Neither popular, nor good sire. But Montcontour (by Luthier) was quite good sire, maybe other sons? DRAK; Korok - Dafne, Gaston. Son of steeplechasin...

Bernardini - the best horse of the past 50 years???
This sentence (translated to English according to its meaning, maybe not word to word): "American consider Bernardini to be the best horse over the past fifty years." appeared in the article about Breeders' Cup, written by one of Czech turf writers. I was pretty shocked, as I've never read anything ...

Photographers in Canada
I'm not searching for concrete photos, but for contact to photographers, who could have been working in Canada somewhen in 1980-1995. I'm looking for both professional photographers or keen amateurs, who were taking photos on big races or at studs. Please, if you have any contact or idea, let me know!

Helped, but not too much :-) At least in some things, but I knew where are knees or ankles... I just don't know if there's "broken knee", what does it mean. There are many bones in the knee... Or broken neck - does it mean broken spondyle in the neck part of spine? I should probably stop thinking ab...

A bit of anatomy...
I have quite big problem with English words describing injuries. My mother language is Czech, and there are pretty big problems with translation. I've searched both web and classic dictionaries, but you know, authors of dictionaries usually aren't anatomists... Even if I find a bone named in the art...

Memories of fatally injured horses
I would like to ask you for little help :-) Right now we are trying to finish new project for our website. It's called "Fallen heroes" - just a work name, we are going to change it before publishing. But I think it's clear what is it about - horses dead or put down because of injuries sustained duri...

Louis: I know about two. Arganta, out of Antheus mare Anna Domani - double classic winner, who produced her first colt by Dashing Blade. Another one is Laren, half sister to this year's Derby winner Laureat - out of Touching Wood mare Lawooda. Maybe there are another mares, but I don't remember them...
