I don't think that's completely true. Maybe 97% true, but not totally. I have had horses at Mountaineer myself (Pre-kids!) and I pride myself on how I take care of a horse. Every horse was groomed, bandaged if they needed it, etc. and fed well, probably before we ate. Not everyone who runs at a trac...

I guess it would depend on what your plans were- breeding to sell or race.
I'm a sucker for Buckfinder ,too, though. If I were looking to breed to race, and had a place to keep her, I think I would take a shot.

Yes, have heard of them and dealt with them- I work for a shipping company. Very nice people who know what they are doing and have a lot of horse experience. Their equipment has always been in good shape too. Had to have been a freak accident.

Yes! When he was here in KY at Buckpond, a stallion groom on the farm told a friend he was the best looking stud they had ever had. Never got a chance to see him, but I would have love the chance to breed a mare to him. Very jealous!!

Required reading list

I'm wanting to build up my thoroughbred library. What 5- 10 books would you consider "required reading" or that were most helpful to you as far as pedigrees, breeding, etc. goes. I'm not necessarily looking for books on individual horses, as I have lots of those. Thanks.

I'm not an expert, on matings, but if you are in Louisiana, what about Ide? It may be a little close on Mr. P, but they seem to both sell and run. I really liked him when he was in KY, and had 2 yearlings by him. Both were good-looking and good-minded. He's only $2500.

Contact Tex Sutton- they fly very frequently from CA to KY- I don't know the prices, though. But comparedto the time/cost of shipping and the time/cost of flying it may be worth it

I know there was an article in the Blood Horse after the 1st meet with polytrack ended at Turway, with the sires who had won the most races. If you go to bloodhorse.com and search "polytrack sires" I can't find that particular article, but it does reference others that list those that are doing well/...

I agree with Kimberlymine- I think Slew City Slew is the best for the price, especially if you are breeding to run. They seem to be hard knockers
