Hi Folks, Masking gives an opportunity for racing unsound stock, by mating unsound x unsound = unsound produce. And therein lies an even bigger issue, you cannot breed out bleeders if you do not know who they are. There were a few major bleeders in the TB founder population. Bartlett's Childers was ...

Hi Louis, The Chaucer male line is just about gone. Gallant Romeo, Gallant Man, Elocutionist, are rarely seen in present day pedigrees. We have lost another outcross. I havent researched the soundness of this line, so i cant comment good or bad. Genes are genes no matter which parent delivers them. ...

Last night I spoke with a good friend, Elaine Peck of Rhapsody Farm, who brought to my attention that she had bred Hoof Heart Head (but she didn't name him). I simply hadn't noticed.

Nice job Elaine.

Hi XFactor,

Nice to see you again.

Hi BenB, His trainer, the now banned for ten years one ( R Dutrow), has made several statements in amongst many others the drf, bloodhorse, and paulick report about the case. In my humble opinion was this eventual leading to his banning. But have to admit, that at that time frame, steroids were not ...

Hi Louis, Happy Valentine's Day! If Ph. & Hyperion appear many times in a pedigree, you must total up their crosses, to find how may times they appear. Since you research the subject of unsoundness tirelessly perhaps it might be interesting to look at Chaucer who will appear as much or more in t...

Hi Louis, To clarify your last answer, each time Phalaris appears in a pedigree, no matter what generation it's in, it counts equally and once? I assume then that this is the same as any other sire, such as Hyperion , etc.? Are FB type 1 and FB type 2 your notations? Lastly, is it be possible that a...

Hi Louis, A few questions if I may. Can you explain what is a type 1 FB and the difference from a type 2 FB ? You count a cross for each horse in the 5th generation (32 individuals) and consider them to be Ph if that 5th generation ancestor traces to Phalaris in it's own pedigree (whether through si...

Hi Louis, It's also the 100th birthday of the highly influential sires Phalaris and Teddy , the former so contentious in your postings. By any chance do you have any statistics of racetrack breakdowns from prior eras, such as the 1970s or even earlier? Congratulations on having achieved 880 pages in...

Hi Folks,

Remember that you have to live with the name you use as Big Jim Hogg discovered.

A couple of names that I'd get a kick out of:
Flying Pheesees
A Slower Horse
A Faster Horse

Sorry but I thought it was clear that I was speaking about Extra Alarm's produce record and not her daughters.

Hi Wen8t, I put forth a hypothesis and a possible solution to return your mare to the caliber of production that she enjoyed in her first three foals and I used Bob and John as an illustration and not as the ideal sire based on performance. ArchArchArch is a nice mating base on more conventional ana...
