Meanwhile....another bag 'em and tag 'em at Santa Anita today.

RIP Characteristic. Don't worry....the CHRB will come up with some stat that makes your death totally meaningless.

If he's taking more outside clients than he already has, Alfredo (Freddy) Velasquez is a tremendous trainer. He's also a heck of a nice guy and he does the best Ricky Ricardo impersonation that I've ever heard. Of the trainers I know at Philly Park, he'd be the first one I'd contact - believe me, he...

Fog - from start to finish, this has been a national disaster. Richard Shapiro should be shot at dawn for this mess that he's responsible for. I think they'd better figure this out before the Breeders Cup, don't you? Morons!!! Once I read that Ron Ellis likes the surface, I was convinced that the en...

The horse raced on 12/8, 1/2 and 2/2. a lot of work here! In between his races of 1/2 and 2/2, he worked three times. That's a lot of work to you? His last work before 2/2 was in 1:31, probably slow as molasses until the final quarter. If a horse can't do that much in a month's time between races, ...

Allen Jerkens is the best trainer that ever lived. For 50 years, he's won stakes with horses that weren't worth a ham sandwich. I worked for one of the best (IMO), and he used to say, "Allen Jerkens is in a class by himself." That's good enough for me. Nobody has the creativity and understanding of ...

Hey Ascot,

Don't know why so many scratched. I'll make a call and see what I can find out.

It's OK, Ascot - we kind of figured that you were doing HUTI like Shergar...it happens. LOL!

Naughty New Yorker wins an overnight by 12!

It's no secret that this is my favorite horse in training, and he's now won a stake for five consecutive years. Horses like this are what make racing great. He didn't beat much today, but he sure looked good doing it: http://www.equibase.com/static/chart/pdf/AQU021808USA3.pdf He's now just a few buc...

Roke, if I was running Laurel Park I would not go near a synthetic surface. The winters here can be cold and icy but today? Mid 60s for highs! Too much variation on a theme here in Maryland. I wouldn't install a synthetic surface at all.... Hi Barbado - beside your good point, the horsemen in Maryl...

Halfbridled - consider what the national average of dirt tracks includes that numbers for artificials don't. How many artificial surfaces are used in snowy climate? Doesn't ice on a track figure to increase breakdowns? Let's see Tapeta used at Laurel on a snowy January day in Maryland and then compa...

You're missing the point - you had that horse because he's a favorite of yours, which is fine. If you had never heard of the horse before, would you have still picked it? The dilemma with handicapping Santa Anita is that all these artificials are different, so form from one won't necessarily carry o...

BULLshit! I had that one! One of my old favorites. He always comes out to dance. Hord knocking old horse. I'd breed to him. 7 years old, two track records, wins on three surfaces... or maybe didn't win on dirt??? I don't remember, speed and developing sort of tactical speed. He's correct and tries ...

Another shining example of how well the Sheikh does with a horse when it's taken away from Kiaran McLaughlin.
