You never called my farm. How many farms did you try?

I'm pretty sure all rules changes and prospective rule changes were posted on the TBA website. There really is no other way to "advertise" it, other than actually taking an ad out in, say the Mid-Atlantic, but that wouldn't be very cost effective, would it? Also, if you've bred under that program al...

The residence date was recently changed and approved by the NJRC, instead of Sept. 1, it is now Nov. 1, to have your mare in NJ in order for the foal to be eligible to be a registered NJ bred. If not in NJ by Nov. 1, (unless mare is purchased at a public auction) in order for the foal to be eligible...

I was there and what I heard was that the TBA is going to make every effort to pay 100% of the awards no matter how long it takes into 2009. What concerns me is the total lack of commitment from this state's governor to support horse racing and even more importantly to make sure that the contract be...

NJ would pay you for Out of state wins while their season is closed. While this is true in theory, the fact of the matter is that NJ for the last couple of years has not had the funding to pay out the Out-of-State Breeders Awards. Funding for this program will only happen if the state decides that ...

I name mine after rock n roll songs, or bands. Dancing Days (Led Zeppelin), Act Naturally (Beatles), Hawaii Blues (Commander Cody), Marrakech Express (Crosy Stills and Nash), Life Is A Carnival (The Band). Obviously OLD rock n roll  I like using music and movies also, but usually they don't go...

NTRA & ESPN

ESPN did little or no marketing for the Breeders Cup. This falls squarely on the NTRA who is not doing enough to make sure the word is getting out about our sport. ESPN also has its own magazine, named, oddly, ESPN The Magazine, and there was nothing in any of the issues leading up to the BC. No ads...

I was lucky enough to attend the BC yesterday and besides the fact that I left with more money than I went there with, I had a great time. It seemed to me that most people in attendance had a positive experience in spite of the rain. Monmouth did a great job with the betting windows. I was never in ...

One of the painful parts of watching a movie whose subject is too close to home is noting all the inaccuracies and narrative shortcuts. The problem with a lot of people is that they can't check their vocations at the door. How can you pay that kind of money to see a movie and just sit there looking...

In my opinion, Seabiscuit is not only the best horseracing movie, but to me one of the best movies of all time...and yes, the book was much better, but I felt they did a good job capturing the feel of the book and the acting was excellent. Yes, Dreamer was a little on the corny side and let's face i...

I think Artie is going to be a solid sire for years to come. I'm betting his offspring will be good on turf, dirt, mud and polytrack. Just my opinion. I heard that if you got to him early it didn't much matter about the mare's credentials, but after they saw how popular he was, they were turning mar...

Re: Has anyone looked at Basketball Court?

Wondering if anyone has looked at him to breed - seems like a really nice stallion addition for PA. If you are looking at a horse like him, you are better off breeding to a NJ stallion, then dropping the foal in PA and getting a dual state registration, NJ-bred and PA-bred...eligible for restricted...

I don't know about Timonium but I do know that at least one mare sold for $100 at the WA winter mixed sale. I don't think it gets much cheaper than that. Highest WA price I can recall for that sale was in the mid twenty thousands. WA yearling sale may have higher prices. Don't they have an upset pr...

well if you want cheap horses stay in MD, Timonium will have the cheapest of them all. That is a very unfair assertion. Many top horses, such as Afleet Alex, to quickly name one from the top of my head, have sold at Timonium. The sales there are usually solid and have been getting better over the y...
